Nitin Sawhney – Prophesy

When it comes down to fusing music genres, there are lots of names to be called. Nitin Sawhney is one of them, perhaps the most appealing (at least for me).

Sometimes, I tend to give high praise to some artists who are really not that good, simply because they mean something to me, be it at personal or musical level, but I can assure you Nitin isn’t one of them. He’s really good at what he does, and that’s why I want to present this album to you.

Described by a british magazine as “the work of a genius” shortly after its release, it set my expectations quite high (despite only having discovered it in 2007, I read a bit about it before listening to it), and they were met.

Recorded in various locations around the globe, and featuring the collaboration of more than 2000 (yes, two thousand) artists, it beautifully blends every type of world music you can think of, all together in this small-sized disc.

If you want to read more about the album before you listen to it, there’s lots of reviews all around the internet. I feel like I’ve done my job now. It’s one of the most impressing musical efforts I’ve ever stumbled into, and it had to be shared. Go get it!
